Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Seize the opportunity to be part of a momentous time in history as Malaysia celebrates its 60th Merdeka and plays host to the 29th SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games (Kuala Lumpur 2017). Get into the action and create your own legacy by becoming a VOLUNTEER for the Kuala Lumpur 2017. This is also a great avenue to meet new people, make new friends, network and share your passion for sports with fellow volunteers. Witness the tears and sweat of the athletes and more importantly, be part of the Bangkit Bersama spirit of Malaysians and the ASEAN Community as we celebrate great sportsmanship and friendship together!

The Kuala Lumpur 2017 Volunteer Programme is a platform for Malaysians to take part and contribute to the successful organisation of the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, the biennial multi-sport events involving participants from the current 11 countries of the Southeast Asia region. The programme is under the purview of the Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) which is chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sports - YB Brig. Gen. Khairy Jamaluddin.

Your contribution as a volunteer is crucial in ensuring the success of the Games. As a volunteer, you will be the backbone of the event. Firstly, each volunteer will be assigned to one out of the 18 areas of responsibilities as shown below. Overall, MASOC expects to recruit about 20,000 on-field volunteers under this programme. True to the spirit of volunteerism and that fact that the Kuala Lumpur 2017 is a non-profit sporting event organised to celebrate ASEAN and its people, there is no monetary rewards that will be offered for your services, only the opportunity to be part of this momentous occasion and history. However, we do provide basic necessities, such as below:-

    b) Official volunteer t-shirt and trousers
    c) Certificate of participation

At the moment, MASOC would not be providing any accommodation or transportation for volunteers.
